Danville

The heart of the San Ramon Valley

Welcome to Danville

Located in Contra Costa County, the town of Danville is known as the “Heart of the San Ramon Valley”. With a rich history, close access to nature, and bustling environment, it’s easy to understand why. Danville is situated approximately 23 miles from San Francisco and has a population of over 44,000 residents.

The history of Danville extends back 130 years. It was settled by Americans during the California Gold Rush—two brothers, Andrew and Daniel Inman, bought 400 acres with their mining earnings in 1854. Soon after, the community had a blacksmith, a hotel, a wheelwright, and a general store. Since its humble beginnings, Danville has grown into a thriving community.

A drive through its tree-shaded streets reveals several styles here. The predominant housing types are single detached homes and townhouses. The majority of residents own their homes, and the median house listing is $1.5 million.
